Unlocking Real Estate Valuation: An AFS Workshop

Last Tuesday evening the Macquarie University Applied Finance Society held its first-ever real estate valuation workshop!

This event aimed to introduce members to the real estate valuation process as they prepare to participate in the PropConnex competition later in the year.

The event began with an opening address from the Applied Finance Society’s Vice-President, Mario Ferreira Compart, who briefly introduced Fabian Law, Director at Kepple Investments, and Noah North, a former Macquarie University student who will be assisting the team in the competition this year.

During the event, Fabian discussed the different real estate investment philosophies, how to apply real estate valuation techniques in making property investment decisions, the factors that impact investment decisions and risk analysis, and how to structure the report and present key findings. The event then broke out into a networking session where Applied Finance Society members were able to network and discuss investing, career paths, and real estate.

The Applied Finance Society would like to thank Fabian Law and Noah North for attending the event and assisting the society in preparation for the competition. Also, a big thank you to Cheryl Kwon for these phenomenal photos as always!
