Last Tuesday evening the Applied Finance Society hosted its first event for 2024, The AFS Social, which aimed to introduce our newest members to our executive team, and to provide the opportunity to meet members of the Applied Finance and Economics departments who convene first-year and second-year units within the Bachelor of Applied Finance degree.

The AFS Social was a resounding success, hosting just over 100 attendees!

The event began with a panel from Macquarie Business School academics David Orsmond, Lei Shi, Shane Magee, Lurion De Mello, Adrian Gao, and Keith Woodward. The panel centered around how to succeed at Macquarie University, and how to do well in the Bachelor of Applied Finance degree.

After the panel concluded, networking began with free pizzas being served (which disappeared quite quickly we might add!), and games being played towards the end of the event.

The Applied Finance Society’s Executives and MQBS academics thoroughly enjoyed chatting and learning more about our new members, and we thank you all for making this event so special!
