Last Thursday evening the Macquarie University Applied Finance Society and MQU Women Entering Business (WEB) held the collaboration event ‘Day in the Life of an Investment Banker with Grant Samuel’.
The event’s purpose was to delve into the world of investment banking and to discover what exactly Grant Samuel investment bankers do on a day-to-day basis.
Macquarie University Finance professor Keith Woodward ran a panel with four Grant Samuel investment bankers Tara Suann, Nick Laidlaw, Daniel Goh and Matthew Hildebrand. During the discussion, the panel shared their own journeys into the industry as well as their experiences working in investment banking.
The panel also provided tips on how to break into the industry which included, but were not limited to persistence, developing a well-rounded personality and staying updated on market trends and transactions.
We would like to thank the Grant Samuel investment bankers Tara Suann, Nick Laidlaw, Daniel Goh and Matthew Hildebrand for graciously sparing some of their time to talk to us, Keith Woodward for chairing the panel, MQU Women Entering Business (WEB) for being a pleasure to work with and Cheryl Kwon from the Macquarie Photography Society for these amazing photos!
