ASA x AFS - Discovering Macquarie Group

Last Wednesday evening, the Macquarie University Applied Finance Society, in collaboration with the Macquarie Accounting Students Association, had the honour of hosting representatives from Macquarie Group.

Macquarie Group, headquartered in Sydney, Australia, is a global financial services organisation with operations spanning more than 33 markets worldwide. Established in 1969, Macquarie is highly regarded for its expertise across a broad range of sectors and operates through five key divisions: Macquarie Asset Management, Banking and Financial Services, Commodities and Global Markets, Macquarie Capital, and Macquarie Risk Management Group.

The event opened with a welcoming address by Olivia Vernicos (President of the Macquarie Accounting Students Association), and Yilmaz Ersoy (President of the Applied Finance Society).

This was followed by an insightful panel discussion chaired by Cameron McCay. The panel featured Macquarie representatives Michael Richardson, Manvina Manmohan Singh, Angus Hughes, and Esther Su, who each shared insights into their roles, as well as detailed information about internship and graduate opportunities at Macquarie. They also provided valuable tips for the Macquarie’s application process.

Following the panel, students had the opportunity to network with the Macquarie representatives, engaging in lively discussions about career paths within the company.

The Macquarie Accounting Students Association and the Macquarie University Applied Finance Society would like to thank Michael, Manvina, Angus, and Esther for their informative presentations and the generous time they spent engaging with our members.
