Last Monday evening the Macquarie University Applied Finance Society hosted its flagship event with the Macquarie Business School, Future Careers in Finance: Navigating the FinTech Revolution in Macquarie University’s Sydney City Campus. The event was a resounding success, hosting over 100 attendees!
The Applied Finance Society’s President, Yilmaz Ersoy, began the event by addressing the fintech space's evolution, trends, and future possibilities. Following Yilmaz’s address, the event’s panel consisting of Pascale Helyar-Moray OAM (Founder & Executive Director of Grow My Money), Stuart Dullard (Partner at Ashurst), Dr. Cynthia Cai (Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University) and Michael Garcia, PhD (Acting Manager at the Reserve Bank of Australia).
The panel discussed the future of banking and financial services, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain as well as the challenges and opportunities in innovation, regulation, and ethics and finished with advice on breaking into fintech, whether through established firms or entrepreneurship.
Following the panel discussion, Applied Finance Society members had the opportunity to engage in a networking session with the panelists, discussing various aspects of the fintech space.
